The heat wave broke and here’s the ice

The heat wave broke today. It started last night with a rousing thunderstorm. Today it is much needed rain. We almost made our week. I tucked the ice cream recipes aside and decided to give you some recipes for something that will also get those 2 fruits in a day.

Cool off and meet those daily requirements plus you don’t have to go and pay $4.00 a box for 6 of them. I like that part. water

Every afternoon I would be on the porch with my pop in hand when I was a kid. No reason not to still do it. Just save some for the other kids ok?

Cran-Strawberry Ice Pops

2 cups fresh strawberries or frozen unsweetened strawberries, thawed
1/4 cup frozen cranberry juice concentrate, thawed
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
3 tbsp sugar

In a blender or food processor, blend all ingredients to a smooth mix then pour into your molds or use paper cups. For cups freeze about 1 hour [starts to set] then stick in the sticks. Freeze until firm. Makes 8

Frosted grapes

Take 1 1/2 pounds grapes [seedless] and wash then pat dry. Freeze for aobut 45 minutes. Remove and let set for 2 minutes then serve. For 4.

Strawberry Lemon Pops

2 cups strawberries
2 tbsp frozen lemonade concentrate
3 tbsp sugar or to taste

Wash and hull strawberries. Puree with lemonade and sugar in blender. Pour into your molds as with Cran-Strawberry Ice Pops. Makes 6

Shake me up Melon [slushy]

1/2 cup orange juice [1 orange juiced and peeled if using machine]
1 1/2 cup frozen cantaloupe chunks
1/2 tsp grated orange peel
1 tsp honey [Do Not serve honey to children under 2 due to infant botulism danger]

Pour OJ into blender with rest. Blend on high until smooth. Serve immediately. 1 serving.

Purple Power Pops

2 cups red grapes, rinsed and pat dry
1 cup strawberries, rinsed and capped

Place in blender. Process on high until smooth. Pourinto molds and freeze Makes 6
